WHEN THE STORM IS RAGING
I am one who has been through the storms of life yet by God's grace I don't look like what I've been through, not because I'm strong or smart NO, rather because I allowed Jesus walk me through it.
Storms of life can happen to anyone whether great or small, old or young. Anyone can experience a storm.
Storms vary for different persons. It can come to one as delay in childbirth, it can come to another as financial constraints, it can also come as academic set back etc.
As one who has been through tough times, I've drawn certain salient lessons from my journey so far. I've gleaned alot of lesson which has been very impacting to me.
Storms when they come don't leave you the same. Your ability to harness the potentials residing in every storm is dependent on you.
In storms of life, you get to prove that which you've been taught all through your years. It comes to reveal what is inside you.
God uses storm to teach us life lessons and also reveal Himself to us.
Nothing happens to a believer without the awareness of God. All things that happens in the life of a Christian whether good or bad happens for a reason.
It is very crucial that when life begin to haul stones at you, you latch onto the help of the HolyGhost. Although we are to hold onto Him in the good and bad.
Before God begins to reveal things to you, He must have seen a willingness and teachability in you.
There are three things I'll like to share with you out of the many things God taught me in my difficult times.
1. Trust in God.
When times begin to get tough, it is very wise to anchor your trust in God. This is because if you hang your trust in man, you're setting yourself up for disaster. Vain is the help of man.
Trust in God is one thing I learned to do when in difficult time. I always know that my refuge is God this is why He is my first point of contact when the going becomes tough.
Life is full of challenges and man lacks the capacity to surpass life's challenges alone. You'll always need an extra presence around you.
This is why the presence of God has become a strong asset to me because at every point in time I go into to receive comfort and support from Him. Learn to trust in God, you will be doing yourself more good.
2. Strength.
I used to think I don't have strength until difficult times began to play out. I found out that in me lies strength and resilience.
Although I will be talking on strength today.
The strength within me gave me the audacity to conquer. It enable me brace up to life faster.
This strength is not the strength gotten from food or any physical means. It's strength gotten from God. This strength can take you anywhere.
Without strength, you cannot successfully pass through any storm that come your way.
Knowing the HolyGhost has been of great advantage to me. Because I've learnt to draw my strength from Him. Whenever I'm down emotionally, mentally or otherwise, I go to Him for a renewal of strength.
Sometimes some of my coursemates will tell me that I'm a strong woman and that they cannot take or pass through what I've been through. I'll just look at them and smile. I've always known any strength found in me was deposited by the HolyGhost.
The HolyGhost is the one who gives strength to the weak. He said His strength is made manifest in our times of weakness.
Therefore, in times of storm, let Jesus be your strength. Let Him into your boat to calm the stormy sea.
3. Gratitude.
It is very easy to be grateful when things are all rosy. But it takes an extra grace to stay grateful when there are difficulties.
I remember when I lost a dear one to the cold hands of death, the HolyGhost began to teach me about gratitude. He made me understand what it means to give thanks even in my darkest moment. Initially I could not grab the lesson but gradually It began to sink deep and understanding was shed on my mind.
I discovered that as I showed gratitude I healed faster. Being grateful made me dwell more on the positive instead of the negative. Although the tendecy to become optimistic was there, yet I did not allow it bring down my gratitude to God. I gave thanks to God in the midst of the storm.
Gratitude brings healing to the soul faster.
Being grateful and positivity go hand in hand. When you are grateful, you stay positive in the midst of the storm, and by this you snap out of the storm fast enough.
You may be going through hard times in life, the good thing is that Jesus is ever willing to walk you through your storm. No storm comes to stay forever. Jesus when He was in the boat and the storm began to rage spoke peace to the stormy sea and peace was the outcome.
It doesn't matter what you are going through, as long as you have Jesus in your life you will not sink. Peace will be your experience.
Go to God in prayers, His hands are wide open to embrace you and take away the burdens.
A song writer wrote "take your burdens to the Lord and leave it at the there".
Sweet is His promise, He will not leave you nor forsake you.
Be rest assured, you will not sink.
God bless you.
